My childhood backstory involves being adopted, experiencing emotional abuse, and bullying. These factors impaired my emotional development, self-identity, and self-worth, resulting in a broken internal belief system. Because of these things, I lived my teen years struggling with suicidal thoughts, anorexia, anxiety, and depression. And much of my adult life was spent anxious and broken, not knowing who I was or what I liked. I had developed defense mechanisms such as being a perfectionist and a people pleaser, and I had the misconception that love had to be earned. Unfortunately, the brokenness within me had me running from myself and into one dysfunctional situation after another. I had hurt people, and I had allowed people to hurt me. I was surviving in life, not thriving! However, the catalytic events that happened quite a few years ago were the turning point in my life.

After picking myself up from rock bottom, I stopped running and started my journey to healing and self-discovery. I knew I couldn't travel on this long journey alone, so I prayed for God to help save me from me. And to show me who He created me to be. And I've continued to become a better version of myself with Him by my side ever since. It's not been an easy or pretty journey at times. But I do find pride in saying I am a work in progress. Looking back, I can see how God really does weave everything together for our good. Even the wrong turns and bad decisions that we make. HE USES ALL OF IT! I realize now that there was a purpose for my pain because nothing in life can grow without some rain!
