Our experiences as children shape us into the adults we become. And when we are faced with trauma or abuse in our childhood, we develop emotional wounds as we mature. If unhealed, we enter adulthood bleeding on those who didn't cut us, and this can include our children as we raise them. We have a responsibility to ourselves, but also our children, to heal from our past. And although we might still be healing, we can help prevent those same wounds from happening in them if we are proactive. I want my granddaughter to have the tools she needs to be healthy and happy growing up. So, she's been my inspiration for branching out in this area.
If we want fewer unhealthy adults in the future, we must prioritize the emotional health of the children being raised now.
